Literature Text

Go down,
Seep into your floorboards,
Vibrate in their cracks and creaks,
Muffled footprints on carpeted footsteps.
The walls whisper with texture,
Remembered cubist memories washed across their wallpaper surfaces,
The bookshelves silent with the scent of well-read pages,
Or the forgotten fossils of pink playthings
Sent away to newer children.
A cabinet full of precariously pencilled drawings,
Coloring-book pages blooming in blues and browns,
Tarnished paper, ink blots on shaking hands,
Memories torn down for me like words in a story.
poem I wrote today about my bedroom. it doesn't entirely feel finished to me, mainly because we were only given about a minute and a half to get anything written down (the prompt was to write about our happy place. I wouldn't always describe my room as my "happy place," but I certainly hold an amount of fondness for it, especially when no one else is home)

it also really hit me today that I'll be turning 18 in exactly two months, so I guess this is also a bit of a collection of reminiscient thoughts about my childhood.

this also goes well with another poem I wrote, which I'll post the link to here if I ever decide to upload it
